Upside Down, Entirely Right – Théo July | Red | Optical
Théo has always asked what happens when you flip the rules. The July is what happens when you flip the frame.
 
The lens shape here is inverted — flat across the top, curved at the bottom — a half-moon silhouette turned on its head. It shouldn't feel natural. It does. The burnt red metal upper rim sweeps boldly across the brow, tapering to almost nothing at the outer edges where it connects to slim, barely-there temples with dark olive tips. Below, the lenses hang open with no lower rim at all, just clean glass held by the frame's upper structure alone. The result is a face that reads as completely open and unexpectedly striking.
 
The colour is the final commitment — a deep, matte terracotta red that sits between rust and vermillion, warm and earthy without ever feeling soft. This is Belgium's most provocative eyewear house doing what it does best: taking a single idea and following it all the way to its logical, beautiful conclusion.
Not a frame to try on tentatively. A frame to commit to completely.
