Persol 714 Tortoise Havana Folding Sunglasses | Green Lenses | The Steve McQueen Frame | Never Worn

The original. No collaboration, no edition, no story needed beyond the frame itself.

The Persol 714 in Havana tortoise with green lenses is the frame that started everything — the folding sunglass that Steve McQueen wore in The Thomas Crown Affair in 1968, that has been worn by Daniel Craig, George Clooney and virtually every person who has ever truly understood what a sunglass should be. It has been in continuous production since it was invented because nothing has improved on it. That is not a common thing.

The rich havana tortoise acetate carries amber and deep brown in a pattern unique to every frame — Persol's acetate is still cut from individually produced sheets, meaning no two pairs are ever exactly alike. The green crystal lenses are tempered glass, delivering the optical clarity that mineral lenses have always provided and no synthetic material has ever matched. The folding mechanism — Persol's patented engineering — clicks shut with the precision of something mechanical and satisfying. The silver arrow sits at the temple where it has always been.

The original Persol sticker remains on the lens. 100% UV protection. Tempered glass. Never worn.

There is nothing to add. It is simply the best folding sunglass ever made.
